Find a School – Alphabetical listing of nearly 200 public and private sector education and training providers located primarily in the six county Sacramento region (El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties) sorted by sector.

Occupational Outlook Report – A series of two-page occupational profile summaries of descriptive and statistical occupational information based primarily on data collected through confidential surveys with local employers. Each profile follows a consistent format for presenting numerous data elements, including occupation title and definition, wages and benefits, typical employer requirements, supply-demand assessment, estimated current size of the occupation locally, and employment trends. Also included is the year in which the data was collected, the number of participating employers, and the number of employees represented.
Regional Workforce Forecast – Provides a industry/occupation forecast for the Sacramento region through the year 2015. This industry data represents the top 75 industry sectors and sub-sectors in the region (representing more than 80% of the total employment) and the occupational make-up of each sub-sector. Individuals can access this forecast data by either major industry sector or by training level. Elements include employment data estimates by occupation within each sector as well as the projected the number of new jobs and replacement jobs over a given period of time. Individuals have the ability to download the data at the industry sub-sector level or by training level in a .tab delimited format (this format is most compatible with Microsoft Excel).

Interest Profiler – A career exploration tool, based on the O*NET Interest Profiler, that helps individuals identify the occupations they are most interested in. Individuals identify and learn about broad interest areas most relevant to them. The Interest Profiler measures six types of occupational interests based on Holland’s R-I-A-S-E-C Interest Structure (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional). The resulting interest areas allow the individual to identify occupations of interest by Job Zone (preparation time) from Little/No job preparation to Extensive job preparation. The assessment takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Requires account log-in/registration to save results.
Account Log-in – Allows users of the CareerGPS.com website to create their own account within the website. Registration gives users of the website the ability to save the results of their interest profiler assessment and to bookmark their search locations for future ease of access. Bookmarks for Provider and Program details are created thru the Occupations section of CareerGPS.com.
Map of Schools – Allows individuals the ability to identify where an education or training provider is geographically located and to create driving directions. Also included is the ability to link to the specific provider’s complete school profile within CareerGPS.com. Users can view all education and training sectors (refresh button will bring map to all sector state) or view a specific sector by selecting a sector from list directly beneath the map. Users can use the zoom slide bar or double click on the screen to zoom in. Users can also hold down the left mouse button to move the entire map.
Glossary of Terms
Major Sector: High-Level group of economic activities. Each of the key industries falls under a Major Sector, which describes
the broader group of activities it is associated with.
Related Cluster: Group of interrelated activities encompassing more than one industry sometimes under different major sectors. Clusters include autonomous technology, building products, clean energy technology (a specific focus of another partnership for Prosperity strategy), finance, government, healthcare, life sciences, and tourism.
NAICS: North American Industrial Classification System code. Officially defines what activities are included in the industry. More information on NAICS is available at www.census.gov/epcd/naics02/.
Sector Name: Official title of the key industry based on its NAICS code.
SOC: Standard Occupational Classification code. Officially defines what functions are included in the occupation. More information on SOC is available at www.bls.gov/soc/.
Employment: Total number of workers employed in the occupation within the industry at the referenced point.
% Change: Percentage change in employment over the referenced time period.
New Jobs: Absolute change in employment over the referenced time period.
Replacements: Absolute number of jobs needed in the occupation within the industry to make up for worker separations over the referenced time period.
Total Job Demand: Sum of new jobs and replacements over the referenced time period.
Mean Hourly Wage: Average hourly wage for all workers employed in the occupation in 2006 dollars.
Mean Annual Wage: Average annual wage for all workers employed in the occupation in 2006 dollars.
Annual Wage Quartile: Group associated with the average annual wage for all workers employed in the occupation when the average annual wages for all occupations are divided into four equal parts. The quartiles are low (up to $30,000), moderate-low (top of low to $43,000), moderate-high (top of moderate-low to $60,000), and high (above top of moderate-high).
Training Level: The typically required level of training or education for the occupation. This classification reflects the manner in which most workers become fully qualified or proficient in that occupation and the preferences of most employers. Training Provider: General type of training provider able to provide or facilitate acquisition of the referenced training level.
Knowledge: Importance ranking on a zero to 100 scale for the skill sets (developed capacities that facilitate learning or the more rapid acquisition of knowledge) across all occupations in the referenced industry.
